PLAY THERAPY
I am certified in Play Therapy and have an office that is very child friendly. I make decisions of how best to use play therapy for each person I meet. Play therapy is often very effective for people aged 3 through 12 years, but I am able to use play therapy with all ages. This includes 2 year olds through teenagers and even some adults find they are most comfortable with a form of play therapy.
Play is the way in which all early communication takes place. From simple peek-a-boo games in line at the bank to learning how to manipulate the world, babies use toys and games to learn about the world and the people in it. From these early lesson, play continues throughout lifetimes to provide opportunities to express ourselves and connect with others in a deeper way than words allow.
Play therapy can help with mental health concerns, such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, family changes and trauma. It can also help with behavior and developmental issues, such as ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, and medical issues. Through play, children are able to develop their own solutions to problems and communicate in a nonthreatening manner what they are experiencing.
